Home › Christmas light installation › Lutherville-Timonium
One ZIP, three kinds of house: an 1850s planned village, streets of 1950s and 60s detached homes, and Mays Chapel’s 1980s and 90s housing across I-83. Each one calls for a different plan for the lights.
Lighting homes in Lutherville-Timonium
In 21093 the age of your house tells us more about how to light it than the size of it does.
Historic Lutherville was laid out in 1852 around the Lutherville Female Seminary, and most of its houses predate World War I. Gothic Revival and Late Victorian roofs are steep and cut up, with more gables, valleys and changes of height than a later house. Lighting every line usually looks busy. Picking the front gables and the porch often reads better, and the steep pitch is work for someone comfortable on one.
A smaller Baltimore County historic district sits inside Lutherville, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission reviews proposed changes to properties in it. We do not decide how that applies to a seasonal display. If your address is inside the county district and you are unsure, check with the county before the lights go up. Once you know, we plan the display to suit it.
Most of the rest is mid-century. Nearly half the Lutherville housing went up in the 1950s, and about six homes in ten in Timonium date from the 1950s and 60s, almost all detached. Across I-83 in Mays Chapel, roughly one home in four is attached, so a townhouse roofline is shared and the neighbors are worth asking before the lights go along it.
Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (2020-2024 5-year) for ZIP 21093 and the Lutherville, Timonium and Mays Chapel census areas.

Planned around your house
Tell us how much or how little you want. Some people want the roofline and nothing else. Others want the whole front of the house. The plan and the price are in writing before anything goes up.
Why a roofer
Most of the damage from Christmas lights is not visible until spring. These are the things we see on roofs after the decorations come down.
We are a roofing company first. If something looks wrong after the season, we can inspect the roof for free and photograph what we find.
Installation and maintenance
Call or send the form with your address and what you would like lit. A rough idea is enough to start.
We check the roofline, the roof surface and where the power will come from, then put the plan and the price in writing.
Licensed, insured roofers working at height every week of the year, not a seasonal crew borrowed for December.
If a section goes dark, call us and we arrange a visit to put it right.

“It’s been great working with Dmitry and Bravo roofing for several years now. They did a full tear off and replace of my flat roof back in 2019. I had a leak last year and Dmitry came out to inspect. He found that an old roof antenna had fallen off and punctured it.”
Tony DeBraccio · Google“I highly recommend Bravo for any kind of roof repair or construction. Dmitry, the business owner, is meticulous and detailed. He personally assessed the leaking overhang roof in our old house and delivered a thorough and economical solution.”
Google review · verified“Very professional, reasonably priced, quick and did a great job. 10/10”

More than you might think, but not necessarily everything. Steep, cut-up roofs have many short lines, and outlining all of them can look cluttered. We look at the house from the street first, suggest which gables and eaves carry the display, and tell you honestly if a line is not worth the climb.
No. Lutherville, Timonium and Mays Chapel all sit inside ZIP 21093, and all of it is Baltimore County. Whichever name is on your mail, it is the same area for us, from Seminary Avenue to York Road, and the planning starts with the house rather than the name on the envelope.
It depends on how many feet of roofline and gutter are being lit, how high and steep the roof is, and what else is on the plan, such as trees, windows or a walkway. We look at the house first and give you the price in writing, so you are comparing a real number rather than a per-foot estimate that grows on the day.
It should not, and as a roofing company it is the part we care most about. Nothing should be fastened through your shingles, and nobody should be leaning a ladder on your gutters. If you want to know exactly how your roofline will be attached, ask us before the install and we will walk you through it.
If a strand or a section of your display stops working during the season, call us on (410) 977-4411 and we will arrange a visit to put it right. The details for your house are confirmed in your written quote.
Yes. Bravo Roofing is a licensed Maryland home improvement contractor, MHIC #114601, carrying $1,000,000 in liability coverage plus workers compensation. The same people who replace roofs across Baltimore are the ones on yours.
Earlier is better. Installation dates fill as the season gets closer, so calling in the fall gives you the widest choice of dates. Call (410) 977-4411 for the current schedule.
