Home › Christmas light installation › Dundalk
More Dundalk homes are attached than detached, and most went up in the 1940s and 50s. On a brick row the roof is low-slope and shared, so the front edge and the party wall decide how a display goes up.
Lighting homes in Dundalk
Dundalk is a rowhome town first. About 43% of homes in 21222 are single-family attached, more than the 39% that are detached.
A rowhome roof here is normally low-slope and covered with a membrane rather than shingle, and that changes the job. Nothing should go through a membrane, because every hole is a place for water to get in, and on a roof that flat the water does not hurry off. On most rows the line worth lighting is the front edge, the one you see from the street, and the roof itself is left as it was.
Charlesmont and Gray Haven are largely brick row homes from the 1940s and 50s, and North Point Village was built as row homes for steelworkers after 1948. A row like that is one long eave line split between several owners. Lights that stop at your party wall halfway along it can look unfinished, so it is worth talking to the neighbors first. When two or three houses light together, the row reads as one line.
Old Dundalk is a different job. Its 815 stucco houses went up as wartime housing in 1918 and 1919, the original two-story houses had steeply pitched roofs, and the area has been a National Register historic district since 1983. A steep pitch needs someone comfortable working on one, and a century-old roof needs someone who knows what not to step on. That is roofer’s work before it is lighting work.

Planned around your house
Tell us how much or how little you want. Some people want the roofline and nothing else. Others want the whole front of the house. The plan and the price are in writing before anything goes up.
Why a roofer
Most of the damage from Christmas lights is not visible until spring. These are the things we see on roofs after the decorations come down.
We are a roofing company first. If something looks wrong after the season, we can inspect the roof for free and photograph what we find.
Installation and maintenance
Call or send the form with your address and what you would like lit. A rough idea is enough to start.
We check the roofline, the roof surface and where the power will come from, then put the plan and the price in writing.
Licensed, insured roofers working at height every week of the year, not a seasonal crew borrowed for December.
If a section goes dark, call us and we arrange a visit to put it right.

“It’s been great working with Dmitry and Bravo roofing for several years now. They did a full tear off and replace of my flat roof back in 2019. I had a leak last year and Dmitry came out to inspect. He found that an old roof antenna had fallen off and punctured it.”
Tony DeBraccio · Google“I highly recommend Bravo for any kind of roof repair or construction. Dmitry, the business owner, is meticulous and detailed. He personally assessed the leaking overhang roof in our old house and delivered a thorough and economical solution.”
Google review · verified“Very professional, reasonably priced, quick and did a great job. 10/10”

Yes. The front edge of a row roof is the line people see from the street, and it can be lit without walking across the membrane or putting anything through it. Windows, the porch and the front yard can carry the rest. We look at your roof before quoting and tell you what makes sense on it.
Usually not on the slate itself. These houses were built with slate roofs in 1918 and 1919, and slate cracks under foot traffic and should never have anything fastened through it. The steep pitch adds to that. The eaves, porch and front of the house can often be lit well, and we will tell you honestly what fits your house.
It depends on how many feet of roofline and gutter are being lit, how high and steep the roof is, and what else is on the plan, such as trees, windows or a walkway. We look at the house first and give you the price in writing, so you are comparing a real number rather than a per-foot estimate that grows on the day.
It should not, and as a roofing company it is the part we care most about. Nothing should be fastened through your shingles, and nobody should be leaning a ladder on your gutters. If you want to know exactly how your roofline will be attached, ask us before the install and we will walk you through it.
If a strand or a section of your display stops working during the season, call us on (410) 977-4411 and we will arrange a visit to put it right. The details for your house are confirmed in your written quote.
Yes. Bravo Roofing is a licensed Maryland home improvement contractor, MHIC #114601, carrying $1,000,000 in liability coverage plus workers compensation. The same people who replace roofs across Baltimore are the ones on yours.
Earlier is better. Installation dates fill as the season gets closer, so calling in the fall gives you the widest choice of dates. Call (410) 977-4411 for the current schedule.
